If Not Covid It’s Something Else, Facing The Fear Of Death

2 mins read

If not Covid it’s something else, facing the fear of death however, may be easier than you think. You see, death we only face once… but the “fear of death” we can face over and over again! Did you get that? The fear of something you can re-live repeatedly regardless of reality! A Phobia.

“Phobia: an exaggerated usually inexplicable and illogical fear of a particular object, class of objects, or situation.” ―Merriam-Webster

Here is the interesting part, you faced this kind of thing before. Much like the fear of death, though you may not remember it, at birth you had “an exaggerated usually inexplicable and illogical fear of” …life! That’s correct! Your first most horrific experience as a human may very well have been the start of all the best things you now treasure and hold dear. Mmm.

I think you know where I am going with this, so I am going to keep this short(er). Your birth was a miracle by any stretch of the imagination, with all the things that could have happened, and all the things that actually did… the gift of life is an unspeakably elaborate event.

An event that you had no control over, one that pushed you kicking and screaming into this world! There you lay, so tragic, so hurt and confused, so victimized… you didn’t ask to be here, totally vulnerable and dependent. And now… so empowered so bold, so brave… willing do preserve your life and the lives of those around you!

Now you have rights! You have dreams! You have ambitions and own stuff! Look at you now, a wonder to behold… even as weak as you are, you live as though you own it! Even going so far as to say who should live and who should die. How far we have come.

Only 5 minutes ago we were struggling for breath, and now we have another by the throat? It would seem we are not the ones in control… it should behoove us to figure out the One who is! Everything around us (including us) is sooo elaborate… like, a lot of thought has gone into all this. We’re like seeds planted for the day of harvest.

An event that you had no control over, one that pushed you kicking and screaming into this world!

Jesus said: (John 10:10, John 142-3)

“The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly… In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

1 Corinthians 15:35-49

“But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? Thou fool, that which thou planted is not brought to life, except it die: And that which thou planted, thou plants not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: But God gives it a body as it hath pleased him…

So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is planted in corruption; but it is raised in incorruption: It is planted in dishonor; but it is raised in glory: it is planted in weakness; but it is raised in power: It is planted a natural body; but it is raised a spiritual body.”

Maybe it is time to consider that God has created us to experience Him. Most importantly God has sent His Son to give us life and purpose, not just for time, but for eternity. That’s something to scream about!

Maybe all you need is another push!
